What is Ska:na

The word Ska:na is an Oneida word that means "PEACE". Incorporated in 2003, SFLC is a Non-Profit Organization Helping

  • ur Children to a better future. Ska:na Family Learning Centre
  • ffers programs for children 3 months to 12 years old, their

families and rest of community. Ska:na serves families through a holistic approach sharing the Original Peoples’ (First Nations (Status and non-Status); Metis and Inuit) Cultures with the Windsor/Essex & Chatham/Kent Communities.

Holistic Life-Cycle Achievement Program

With the assistance of an onsite, Child and Family Program Coordinator, SFLC offers supportive services to all families in our community. The role of the Child and Family Program Coordinator is to work together, in partnership, with other organizations to provide parents support services. the following services:

  • Community Information and Referral
  • Community Outreach,
  • Liaise between families and agencies,
  • Family Needs assessments,
  • Emergency assistance and/or crisis intervention
  • Program development and promotion
  • Educational workshops for parents and caregivers
  • Welcoming communities through an Original Peoples’ perspective
