A sustainable campus involves promoting work practices, services and life styles that don't compromise the lives and health of future generations.

Currently , MCAD offers 17 courses that focus on

sustainable systems and

design thinking within the MASD program.

Several undergraduate courses cover sustainable topics,

including studio, liberal arts, and entrepreneurial studies.

LED or compact fluorescent

  • Installed occupancy and motion

sensors in restrooms and stairwells

  • Received $76,000 from Xcel and

Centerpoint Energy for energy saving projects

  • Implemented energy efficient projects

which save $195,000 annually in utilities costs

  • Deferred maintenance of $1.3M with

M/LAB renovations.

In 2010, Minneapolis College of Art and Design was awarded Metro Transit’s

as an organization, and the I n n o v a t i

as an employer. MCAD was able to reduce their Single O c c u p a n c y Ve h i c l e rate from 80% to 60% between 2007 and 2010.
