Closing the Gap: Project Lead The Way

 Project Lead the Way is a non-profit

• rganization that works with schools to engage

students with technology curriculum that emphasizes problem solving and computational thinking.

 This year, LaVenture is offering Computer

Science for Innovators and Makers – a course that includes designing, coding and building real-life applications and objects that solve real- world problems.

 This course is a technology elective class which

also falls under CTE and STEM.

Closing the Gap: Intensified Algebra

 Daily Lessons are broken into five parts:

 Opener (~10 minutes)  core activity (~30 minutes)  consolidation activity (~25 minutes)  homework (~10 minutes)  staying sharp (done at home and reviewed as part of homework)

 Curriculum is designed for student engagement. (core and

consolidation activities are usually done with partners or in small groups)

 Each unit has a growth mindset lesson built in.
