Fourth Grade ELA

In Reading we have finished Unit 1 Key Ideas and Details in Informational Texts. The students took both a USA and Standard Mastery on the material and all did a great job. When we return from the Thanksgiving break - the students will work on Craft and Structure in Informational texts. In Writing the students are getting ready to take their final writing assessment in Opinion writing. A Fall Break Pack will be coming home with students this week - please make sure that they complete it and bring it back with them on Monday December 2nd. We are celebrating our I-Ready success in reading class - with a friendly competition between reading classes.

11/18/19. As you the data shows, their hard-work and effort from most of the students are truly paying off.

  • Unit 8 just started on Tuesday which is

about Equivalent Fractions. We are focusing on Fractions Models to create equivalent fractions and numberlines.

  • Fall Packets will be coming home

tomorrow with 4th graders. Please make sure they do them to keep concepts taught fresh in their minds!

Fifth graders are currently working in Topic/Unit 7 in Math and Unit 4 in Science . In Math they are learning how to add and subtract fractions that have unlike denominators and in Science they are learning about Forces and Motion.

How Parents Can Help Students with Math

  • Do the homework with them
  • Access the textbook on line and look at the

examples

examples and steps for solving problems

Music Students are in full performance mode as we prepare for our holiday concert happening December 12th at 6:00pm! Parents, be on the lookout for permission slips going home so your child can participate in this years show! The Lion Chorus will also be performing music from our show at the Lake Park Tree Lighting happening December 6th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Fun for the whole family! We hope to see you there! PE Our Kids Heart Challenge and First Parent Day were a huge success!!! Thank you to all the parents who came and participated with your child!!!!! All grades have been working on overhand throwing and catching of various objects of various weights and sizes from various distances. We are having our Annual Turkey Trot on

  • Friday. All grades will come out to the field

for Fine Arts to run as many laps around the field as possible!!
