  6. Tour basics Getting there We will depart from school by coach on Monday 13 th February 2017 and will arrive at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland at 3pm local time. (flight time approximately 3 hours) . No meal will be provided on the flight. Please drop your child off at school at 7.30 on Monday 13 th February 2017 – we will be leaving school at 7.45am. Returning home We will leave Keflavik at 8am on Thursday 16 th February 2017 and arrive back at school at approximately 12 noon. Please collect your child from school.

  9. Tour basics Our accommodation We will stay at The Hotel Ork, Breiðumörk 1c, 810 Hveragerði, Iceland. This accommodation is on a full board basis. The hotel has 85 rooms and free WiFi throughout!

  12. Tour basics Rooms are 2,3 and 4 beds – we will sort rooms out closer to the time. WE WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS HAPPY IN THEIR ROOMS!!! WE ARE FULL BOARD – BUT FOR THE MONDAY YOU WILL NEED TO BRING A PACKED LUNCH – BUT NO DRINKS!! (YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED THROUGH CUSTOMS WITH THEM – YOU CAN BUY THEM THROUGH PASSPORT CONTROL

  13. Tour basics YOU ARE ALLOWED 20KGS OF LUGGAGE AND A SMALL DAY SACK (FOR CARRYING YOUR PACKED LUNCH ETC) IF YOU GO OVER THE WEIGHT LIMIT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY THE FINE!! YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO CARRY YOUR OWN BAG – POSSIBLY UP A LOT OF STAIRS!!

  14. Tour basics Travel tips – money The currency in Iceland is the Icelandic króna We recommend that students take [£100] with them on the visit in cash.

  15. Tour basics Travel tips – packing The weather in Iceland at this time of year is at or below freezing. We will be outside most of the time. Please see the kit list for the essential items that students will need for their tour. Walking boots – need to be waterproof Yak tracks Warm, waterproof jacket Waterproof trousers Hat, gloves, scarf Thick socks Sunglasses Full swimsuit/towel (not bikini) Indoor shoes

Tour basics Travel tips – packing Warm trousers Jumpers T-shirts (layers) Nightwear Wash items Something to sit on (fold away mat) You may want to send some first aid items e.g. pain relief, plasters etc. with your child (in their suitcase) – as we cannot give them out We also recommend you pack some snacks! Iceland is very expensive and we won’t be near many shops (chocolate, crisps, breakfast bars etc.)

Tour basics • Please make sure you have told us about ANY medical conditions your child may have • Any pupil who is asthmatic MUST carry their inhaler with them at all times • If they require inhalers/medication etc they will need to be clearly labelled and shown to us at school – without us seeing them they cannot travel!!

  18. Tour basics Mobile phones Camera NB: you will need to bring your own European adapter plug You will be responsible for any items you bring. School will not take any responsibility for damage, loss or theft. Make sure you have NAME on everything!!

  19. Tour basics We will operate a bank system that the children can access each day Maximum amount of money to be brought is £100 (you may want to bring a small amount of English money for drinks etc at the airport)

  20. Tour basics • We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but to do so in a safe way. • You MUST not leave the hotel without a member of staff from school. • You must follow all instructions given to you by a member of staff, it is for your safety.

  21. Tour basics • At night once in your bedrooms you must stay there. If you have to leave in an emergency then you do so with a ‘buddy’. • Staff will also be able to be contacted by mobile. These numbers will be given to the pupils when in their ‘buddy’ groups.
