Second year of the Kenston Community Survey. Number of questions was reduced to make the survey easier for participants to complete. Primary objective of the 2019 survey was to provide a year-over-year comparison against the baseline 2018 survey. Survey helps measure public perception and:

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement; or
  • Identifies areas where improved communication with

the community would increase public awareness of district progress in key areas of success.

Survey Participation

Objective was to increase survey participation. Survey participation was down slightly (713 participants in 2018 vs. 691 participants in 2019). Majority of participants (65%) are parents of current students.

Survey Participation

Would recommend the following steps to increase survey participation next year:

  • Promote survey as part of early school year

welcome activities (open houses, meet the teachers, etc.).

  • Allow for a longer window for data collection,

as the start of the school year is busy for families and staff.

  • Provide terminals for teachers and other staff

to complete survey on campus.

Provide opportunities for parents and community members to share opinions with the district (townhall format). Ensure that ample time is reserved for questions at the end of presentations. Provide remote access to board meetings, similar to neighboring districts:
