FEEDBACK ON CASES OF SIGNIFICANCE On Sunday 2 December 2018 , JMPD arrested seven (7) foreign nationals for robbery and assault of a JMPD Police Officer at the Global Citizen Concert at FNB Stadium. Suspects were detained at Booysens SAPS as per cas no 37/12/2018. Suspects appeared five times in December 2018, four times in January 2019 and twice in February 2019 at Johannesburg Magistrates Court . Two of the suspects were identified as South Africans and they were given R1 500 bail each on the 19 March 2019 whilst other five remained in custody pending further investigation. Suspects appeared again on the 9 th May 2019 and the case was remanded to 21 May 2019 . Five Suspects are still in custody.

  15. FEEDBACK ON CASES OF SIGNIFICANCE On Friday 05 April 2019 , JMPD K9 Officer received a call indicating that a Merced Benz vehicle was hijacked in Evaton and the owner of the vehicle was shot by the heavily armed suspects. The Officer was off duty at that time, however, that did not stop him from attending to the call. He immediately reported the incident to the Radio Room and the hijacked vehicle was tracked. He requested back up from the on duty K9 members. The vehicle was found in Lawley extension 1 and all three suspects were still in the vehicle. All three suspects were arrested for Hijacking, Possession of Hijacked Motor vehicle, Possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as per Ennerdale cas number 61/04/2019.

  16. FEEDBACK ON CASES OF SIGNIFICANCE On Monday 08 April 2019 at approximately 02: 00am, Region F1 Officers were patrolling along Abel and Lilly streets in Berea when they saw a suspicious blue Toyota Cressida. Officers stopped the vehicle and a passenger that was sitting on the rear right seat suddenly jumped out of the vehicle. Officer Ratsela grabbed and searched him and recovered a 9mm firearm with the serial number filed off. The other five suspects were searched and two firearms namely: an unlicensed Glock 9mm and an Astra 6.75 mm firearm that was licenced as well as a knife were recovered. All suspects were detained at Hillbrow Saps as per Case no: 230/04/2019. Police were looking for the first suspect for other serious crimes namely: Murder, car hijacking, attempted murder and cash in transit. FEEDBACK ON CASES OF SIGNIFICANCE On Monday 15 April 2019 at approximately 08:50 ,Region F1 Officers were patrolling along Joubert Street towards Park Town when they got stopped by an African man who then pointed out a suspect who was on the other side of street. The victim indicated to the officers that he was robbed of his cell phone and a bag. The suspect saw the officers and began to run. Officers parked the patrol vehicle and gave chase on foot. During the chase, the suspect pulled out his firearm and fired shots towards officers. Officer Machethe pulled her firearm out as well and fired two shots and suspect surrendered. The suspect then threw the bag and the phone on the ground and the chase continued. The officer caught the suspect at corner Joubert and Empire Road. The suspect was arrested and detained at Hillbrow Saps for Armed Robbery and Possession of an unlicensed firearm as per case no. 488/04/2018 (SAP 13: 587/04/2019) (SAP 14: 135/04/2019).
