Notable Cases

 A Mississippi man attempted to enter a prohibited species shark that

was harvested in Federal waters into a local fishing tournament. The case is under investigation and will be referred to NOAA OLE.

 MDMR worked a joint investigation with NOAA OLE and Louisiana

Department of Wildlife and Fisheries pertaining to the illegal harvest, transport, shucking and sale of oysters. Two men were cited for a total

  • f nine state misdemeanor violations.

 MDMR is jointly working a Lacey Act investigation with NOAA OLE and

Alabama Marine Resources Division. The investigation is ongoing and multiple charges are anticipated.
