Math in Focus is being implemented only in grades K – 2. How will my child benefit when he/ she is in grade 3 or above? The Common Core Learning Standards in Math are being implemented in all grade levels, not just grades K - 2. The differences are going to be seen in the materials (textbooks, workbooks, manipulatives), but not in the instruction.

What if I cannot help my child with the math homework, particularly word problems?
If your child is struggling, ask some guiding questions: What is this question asking? What information do you have? What information do you need? How do you think you should start? How did your teacher explain this? Your children will NOT be penalized for not completing the HW, as long as they did their personal best to try every problem.
