BOOKS ARE FUN
Especially When a Student’s Name is on it
Books are FUN! Books are FUN!
Especially when your name is in one! We GUARANTEE every student the following three things: Th ill i YMH C ifi f A k l d h h
1.
They will receive a YMH Certificate of Acknowledgment when they submit their story on‐line. This encourages the use of the computer. The certificate will have the YMH logo, the Chicken Soup logo and YOUR Rotary Club logo.
2.
Their story will be in full view on our website. Due to safety concerns, we can have the student’s initials instead of their full name on the
- site. This will be the choice of the Parent and the School Board.
3.
The story writer’s name and their hero’s name will appear in the YMH Index of Authors & Heroes at the front of the book.
EVERYONE IS INCLUDED
No Student is Left Behind
Everyone is Included Everyone is Included
From Kindergarten to grade 12,
d h d
every student can participate. The younger grades may
even draw a picture of their hero instead of writing a story.
This philosophy allows ALL the students to be a part of one
big project. The younger students will feel SPECIAL because they had a chance to be on even terms with their ld h l
- lder school mates.
This is a positive way to integrate the schools and grade
p y g g
- levels. We feel it is a nice way for us to celebrate the Rotary
principles of Joy, Understanding, Integrity, Caring and Love.
PRIVACY

Even though we invite every student to write just ONE t h f d th t t d t ONE story, we have found that some students were a little hesitant. When we asked them why, their typical response was, “My story is a private thing between me and my hero” That is perfectly OKAY! and my hero. That is perfectly OKAY! The student will have two options should they choose NOT bli h h i i h b k h b NOT to publish their story in the book or on the web.
A) Have their name and their hero’s name listed in the
front of the book (so they can be included) OR OR
B) They may choose to have their names left out.
Either way is fine.

“My hero is a guy who is always
there for me - my dad. He helps me there for me my dad. He helps me in life. He’s there to help with my homework when my grades are low, volunteers as the coach of my hockey team and does things without hockey team and does things without me asking. He doesn’t know my hero is him. This book will be a surprise for him.” him. Brandon Burke - Grade 8
