TTC Research

  • CDL Study - Alaska's 1:1 – “a) An increase in student

engagement and a decrease in behavioral issues were pronounced; b) improvements in student writing; c)student expression broadened to include many forms of writing; d) student achievement was either mixed or held steady. There were slight increases in writing scores…”

  • CEESA Schools – Three laptop programs were assessed:

American School of Warsaw, Vienna American International School and the International School of Prague. The highest degree of success for these programs occurred in the Middle School programs which later expanded to the High School programs. The biggest technical issues faced in the implementation of 1:1 computing programs were charging the laptop batteries, and providing an appropriate electrical infrastructure .

TTC Recommendation

1:1Laptop Program Presentation for Parents

  • Based on the research of 1:1 laptop programs and

the Middle School Teacher Survey, the TTC has recommended the implementation of the 1:1 laptop program in the ISB Middle School for the 2010 – 2011 SY.

  • On January 12, 2010 the Board of Trustees has

approved the funding for a 3 year implementation

  • f the 1:1 laptop program, which will start at the

Middle School at 2010/2011 SY.

1:1 IT Projected Budget for the 2010 – 2011 SY

  • Proposed vendor is Toshiba which offered a 11.6”

model with 3 – Year warranty and a battery lifetime

  • f nine hours. Ninety-seven laptops required for

the MS 1:1 program.

  • Proposed vendor for the wireless infrastructure at

Middle School is Xirrus. It specializes in preparing infrastructures for educational institutions

  • 1:1 additional cost to the regular IT budget in Year 1

would be USD 90,500.00
