Introduction to Enoch • Very little is known about him • Born 662 years after Adam • One of the most righteous men that ever lived • He suddenly disappeared because the Lord “took him.”
1. Enoch lived in a time of technological advancement and so do you • Cain built a city • Jubal advanced musical instruments • Tubal-Cain advanced crafts and engineering • Laws and protocols were made as kingdoms grew
2. Enoch lived in a time of spiritual confusion and so do you Enoch’s time : At that time people began to call upon the name of the Lord… Genesis 4:26
First Century: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them . 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. Romans 1:18-20
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things . Romans 1:21-23
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. Romans 1:24-25
3. Enoch “ walked with God ” .and so do you When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah. 22 Enoch walked with God after he fathered Methuselah 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Genesis 5:21-22
4. Enoch lived 365 years but you won’t Thus all the days of Enoch were 365 years. Genesis 5:23
5. Enoch was taken by God .and so will you! Enoch walked with God, and he was not , for God took him. Genesis 5:24
I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed , 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:50-53
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
