Open ​ ​ Content ​ ​ manages ​ ​ any ​ ​ content ​ ​ independent ​ ​ of ​ ​ origin ​ ​ - ​ ​ which ​ ​ means ​ ​ anything ​ ​ from ​ ​ articles ​ ​ to ​ ​ images, video ​ ​ and ​ ​ metadata. ​ ​ The ​ ​ content ​ ​ (images, ​ ​ articles, ​ ​ videos ​ ​ etc) ​ ​ are ​ ​ stored ​ ​ in ​ ​ Amazon ​ ​ S3-buckets ​ ​ together with ​ ​ extremely ​ ​ fast ​ ​ access ​ ​ to ​ ​ selected ​ ​ parts ​ ​ of ​ ​ content ​ ​ and ​ ​ metadata ​ ​ via ​ ​ a ​ ​ very ​ ​ fast ​ ​ index. ​ ​ OC ​ ​ takes advantage ​ ​ of ​ ​ Open ​ ​ Source ​ ​ technology ​ ​ with ​ ​ Solr ​ ​ as ​ ​ base. ​ ​ Solr ​ ​ is ​ ​ a ​ ​ very ​ ​ widespread, ​ ​ incredibly ​ ​ fast, search-platform ​ ​ which ​ ​ in ​ ​ turn ​ ​ is ​ ​ built ​ ​ on ​ ​ Apache ​ ​ Lucene. Open ​ ​ Content ​ ​ can ​ ​ be ​ ​ scaled ​ ​ from ​ ​ a ​ ​ small ​ ​ single ​ ​ setup ​ ​ for ​ ​ small ​ ​ publicists, ​ ​ to ​ ​ very ​ ​ large ​ ​ installations ​ ​ with parallel, ​ ​ redundant ​ ​ clusters. ​ ​ By ​ ​ scaling ​ ​ OC ​ ​ with ​ ​ a ​ ​ satellite-model ​ ​ the ​ ​ risks ​ ​ of ​ ​ downtime ​ ​ are ​ ​ reduced, ​ ​ in ​ ​ case of ​ ​ for ​ ​ example ​ ​ a ​ ​ attack. ​ ​ Every ​ ​ satellite-OC ​ ​ can ​ ​ in ​ ​ turn ​ ​ consist ​ ​ of ​ ​ one ​ ​ or ​ ​ many ​ ​ OC, ​ ​ depending ​ ​ on ​ ​ load ​ ​ and redundancy. 2 ​ ​ (8)
