SPECIAL ACTIVITIES/INITIATIVES TAKEN BY THE REGIONAL CENTRE 2014-2019

promotional activities about Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in different regions in Upper Assam areas and various interactive sessions with various educational institutions and colleges in the area

YEAR 2014

• 1. Visit to Hojai College- 02/09/2014
• Dr. Anil Ch Borah, DD visited Hojai College,

Nagaon on 2nd September 2014 for inspection as a regular Study Centre and also interacted with students and teachers on promotional & academic matters. Dr. Borah elaborated different programmes

IGNOU and encouraged the teachers and students to spread the message among their friend, relatives and neighbours.

• 2. Promotional Meet at Numali Club(Ladies Club), Numaligarh Refinery-

20/10/2014

An interaction meet was organized at Numaligarh Refinery Limited with the women of the refinery

• workshop. The meeting was organized by the Numali Club on 17th October 2014. Dr. Anil Ch.

Borah explained different programmes offered by IGNOU. The women were very enthusiastic to know different programmes of IGNOU and showed interest in many programmes. Copies of Admission advertisement, templates with list of programmes were distributed among the members.

• 3. Promotional Meet with Madrasas at Jorhat Ashiyana Club- 09/11/2014

• 4. Participating in Book Fairs and Exhibition-

providing information on admission and is also selling prospectus by establishing a stall in the book fair.

• 6. Career Counselling Session at C.N.B College, Bokakhat-13-03-2015

A career counseling meet was organized at CNB College Bokakhat on 13/ 3/ 2015. More than 150 students, teachers and staff

the college participated in the meet wherein Dr. Anil Ch Borah briefed about the ODL system and its role in providing higher education to all. Dr. Borah also highlighted the features of the University. Admission cycle and structure and the flexibility were briefed to all.

• 7. Promotional Meet with All Adivasi Students Association of Assam(AASAA)-18-

03-2015

The meeting on IGNOU programmes with leaders from All Adibasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) was held at Gana Setana Bhawan, Kumar Gaon, Tezpur on 18-03-2015. More than 50 representatives of AASAA from all districts of Assam were present in the meeting. Mr. Manash Patgiri, coordinator of our study centre at Darrang College (SC-0455) explained different facilities

• 8. Promotional Campaigning at Uttar Majuli Jr. College, Majuli River Island-

A promotional campaigning was undertaken on 4/ 4/ 2015 at Uttar Majuli J unior College, J

• Majuli. Dr. Anil Ch. Borah accompanied by a team of

RC staff visited the college for promotion of IGNOU

• programmes. The College officials were very much

delighted to be reached by IGNOU as it would serve the purpose of the community in enriching their quality and standard of living.

• 9. Promotional Meet at Darul Uloom Chaulkhuwa Madrasa, Dibrugarh-

12/05/2015

An Interactive meet was also organized at Darul Uloom Chalkhuwa Marassa, Dibrugarh on 12/ /05

• 2015. The meetings were attended by people mainly from minority community (Muslim) and

people from madrassa.

10. Consultative meet on New Education Policy – Promoting Open and Distance Learning and Online Courses- 22/09/2015

Regional Centre has also taken the initiatives in promoting and announcing IGNOU admissions through mobile van in J

• rhat, Sivasagar, Tinsukia,Dibrugarh and Golaghat district.

The Regional Centre has also putted up posters and banners in the National Highways and in the ASTC buses.

• 12. Participating in Book Fairs- 6th to 15th Nov, 2015

RC Jorhat participated in Jorhat Book fair from 6th to 15th November, 2015 by putting up stalls and interactive meetings. We have provided information to the visitors there and also sold

prospectus by establishing stall in the Book Fair and we are pleased that RC have got a good response from such kind of activity

• 13. Village Adoption Scheme(Melamati, Titabor)- 08-11-2015

Titabar under the Scheme of village adoption. Melamati is a village in Titabor Tehsil in J

• rhat district of Assam. J

16. Village Adoption under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at Disangmukh (Sibsagar)- 30/11/2016

visited Ligiribari Village, Disangmukh at Sibasagr Door to door campaigning was done in the village elaborating the IGNOU progranmmes on offer, benefits given to the SC/ ST candidates, free admission to weaver communities in BPP programmes etc

17. Interactive meet with All Assam Minority Student Union (AAMSU)- 06/12/2016

Village Adoption under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at Kachua, Nagaon- 2nd - 3rd December, 2016

• rhat visited Kachua, Nagaon on

District on 2nd and 3rd Dec, 2016. The area is inhabited by weavers. Door to door visit in the houses of the villagers were made elaborating them about the education system of IGNOU and programmes offered by IGNOU.

19. Village Adoption under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan at Gogamukh , Dhemaji-18th and 19th Dec, 2016

District for promotional drive. For Unnat Bharat Abhiyan-Village Adoption Scheme they visited Gogamukh, Dhemaji district. The area is inhabited by

YEAR 2016-17 20. Workshop on Digital Economy- eKranti Volunteers-25-01-2017

Under VISAKA (Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan or Financial Literacy Mission) launced by MHRD for building digital economy in the society a workshop was organized by IGNOU Regional Centre J

• rhat in collaboration with Union bank of India, J
• rhat Branch on 25th January, 2017 at the

premise of the Regional Centre. Fifteen learners enrolled in different programmes under RC J

• rhat along with Asstt Coordinator of C.K.B commerce College were present at the workshop.

Four officials from Union Bank namely- Mr. Niladri Choudhury (Manager), Mr. N.G Roy (Deputy Manager), Bhaskar Taid(Asstt. Manager) and Mr. Pradipta Mahanta (LOC Head) were present at the workshop. The session was started with introduction of Digital Economy and Cashless Transaction by the Manager of the union Bank followed by a power point presentation by the

• Asstt. Manager. They elaborate the advantages of various methods of cashless transaction like

advantages of installation of POS, mobile banking, internet banking etc

21. Workshop on Leadership Development-06-05-2017

• rhat had organized a workshop on Leadership Developments for youths on 6th May, 2017

at J

• rhat Science Centre & Planetarium in collaboration with Guidance Education Society,

• rhat. A total of 137 youths participated in the workshop. A detail lecture on different

programmes of IGNOU, admission procedure, different flexibilities, examination system etc was delivered by the undersigned in the programme. Leaflet with study centre's name, programme in offer and online admission procedure was distributed among all the participants.

A two day National Conference on “Vision-2025: Connecting North East through Open and Distance Learning” was organized by IGNOU Regional Centre Jorhat in collaboration with CSIR- North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) and Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) on 8th & 9th July, 2017 with the aim and objective of providing a platform to all the stakeholders of ODL and conventional institutions of Higher Education (HE) to share their experiences and expertise so that a vision for near future can emerge for NER
