  8. Triple (separate) science option • It is not on the option form. You will need to send in the reply slip to be considered for Triple science. • All students who apply to be considered for Triple science will meet a senior member of staff to discuss the option.

  9. Guidance – Triple science • Triple science will give you three separate GCSE qualifications and should be considered if: • You have a love of science. • You see yourself in some STEM based career in the future. • Triple science will reduce your options. • Combined science (two GCSEs) will be followed if you do not choose triple science. • Both routes will still allow you to study A levels in any of the sciences as long as you meet the school entry requirements.

  11. Option choices Will all subjects run? • No subject is guaranteed to run. For example, if we don’t have enough students opting for the subject it may not happen. Can I change my options once I have made them? • Think long and hard about your choices. Once they are made, the likelihood of you being able to change them is very low.

  12. Oversubscribed Courses Where courses are oversubscribed we will apply a selection criteria which will include: • ATL Grades on progress reports (in all subjects not just the one related to a particular course). • Attendance & Punctuality. • Behaviour.

  13. Online options form Activation codes • SIMS options online to be sent to student email account tomorrow. Help and support • Help guides to be sent to students and parents via email. • Technical support will be available at parents evening on Thursday 27 th Feb. Triple science • The letter for those wanting to be considered for triple science will also be emailed tomorrow.

  14. Dates Parents’ Evening • Thursday 27 th February 5pm – 8pm. Deadline for return of options forms • 9am Monday 2 nd March 2020. Individual advice and guidance meetings • Meetings with students will take place throughout March depending on the choices that they have made.

  15. What to do next • See as many subjects as you can this evening. • Consult your tutor or senior member of staff if you require any advice about your options. • Careers advisors are located in the 6 th from common room. Individual consultations available – no need to make an appointment.
