Screening

  • Assessment of MH and SUD status

○ Each inmate ○ Best Practices ○ To determine diagnosis of Opioid Use Disorder ○ To determine if MAT is appropriate

  • If OUD indicated, information on MAT medications must be

provided and medications must be available to inmate

  • DPSCS and BHA, along with MCAA, will develop a

timetable for inmates to receive the assessments, evaluation and treatment

Treatment

  • Must include one formulation of FDA-approved

○ Full opioid agonist ○ Partial opioid agonist ○ And long-last opioid antagonist

  • If inmate received MAT for OUD preceding or during

incarceration, it must be continued ○ Unless inmate or health care provider discontinues

  • Behavioral health counseling must be provided
  • Health care practitioner must be provided
  • Peer Recovery Specialist access must be provided
  • Pregnant Women identified with OUD will receive

evaluation and be offered MAT treatment as soon as practicable.
