GRE Pipe Wall Structure

A number of liner types and external coatings can be applied to the pipe depending on the application and exposure. A chemical corrosion resistance liner can be included to increase the chemical corrosion resistance when carrying severe corrosive fluids. For environment protection, a UV protection layer can be applied externally on the pipe OD to resist UV rays and weathering exposure. If electrical conductive piping is required for static discharge due to high flow rate, FRP pipe can be made conductive to discharge away any harmful static charge for applications in hazardous areas. In case of fire protection & endurance requirement, a fire protection layer can be applied for meet fire endurance level required as well as for low smoke & toxicity emission.

Hanwei manufactures FRP pipe and fittings using the filament winding method. Filament winding involves the process of impregnating a number of glass rovings with a matrix resin and then applying the wetted glass rovings

  • nto a rotating mandrel under controlled roving

tension in a predetermined pattern. Hanwei’s unique filament winding machines are able to employ more than one mandrel for pipe winding at the same time, thus greatly increase the productivity with no compromise to quality comparing to only one mandrel for pipe winding using conventional pipe winding machine.  The center continues to carry out design and R&D of FRP pipe for use in special applications and to open up new market sector.  Hanwei has a team of experienced field service engineers responsible to train, supervise, and qualify pipe jointers whether it is carry out in-house or at site. Hanwei owns and operates a state-of-the-art FRP Research & Engineering Center authorized and accredited by the China government. Hanwei invests 5% of its annual sales turnover in research, product development and testing. The center is able to carry out static and cyclic long-term, medium-term and short-term testing of FRP pipe & fittings and other materials and chemical exposure testing according to international FRP standards and specifications.
