Summary and key messages

  • The survey was sent out to

all members through FixturesLive.

  • 116 responses equate to

about 70% of members paying annual subs

  • Following pages analyse the

responses and include a brief summary of comments

  • Following further feedback

at the members forum on 20 March the board will propose the format of fixtures and compeIIons for next season

  • Most people want to play about 20 games in the season which

leaves a few weekends free.

  • Responses did not support the need for weekends off at half

term but the availability of pay-as–you-play players might make it difficult to run full league programmes

  • There is a concern about too many long gaps with no hockey

for club players

  • Div 2 matches can go ahead when there are EH matches.

Ladies tend to support rearranging fixtures when there is an EH

  • game. It is less clear cut with div 1 men. Comments suggest

some feel strongly that matches should go ahead whereas

  • thers want rearrangements
  • Social games arranged for ‘random’ teams are not popular but

there is support for friendlies between exisIng clubs which could be arranged when there is no league or cup programme

  • There is support for the new format of the men’s cup providing

some of the pracIcal difficulIes experienced this year can be addressed

  • 66% support a mixed cup compeIIon arranged around exisIng

teams

  • A significant number of members want a break from hockey in

summer but there is sufficient interest to consider introducing social hockey events or a hockey focused fesIval
