- Provides supplemental funds to schools with large concentrations of
low-income students to assist in meeting student’s educational goals.
- Low-income students are determined by free and reduced lunch
program.

Title 1 Schools will ensure that ALL students have a fair, equal and sufficient opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and to reach proficiency on state standards and assessments. Title 1 Schools and Districts will close the achievement gap between high and low performing students, especially between minority and non-minority students, and between disadvantaged students and their more advantaged peers.

Testing from Spring 2015 (known as SBAC or CAASPP) will form the baseline to measure future improvements. This data will be released by the California Department of Education in September 2015.

- A school works with the Local Educational Agency (LEA/ school
district) to analyze student achievement data and develop yearly improvement plans.
- Parents are offered “Choice” option to attend another school.
- Parents are offered Supplemental Educational Services (SES/
tutoring) for students.
- A school can undergo restructuring of program in a variety of ways.
The Grange 7-period day is an example.

- Rigorous professional development for staff to increase use of
effective instructional strategies.
