Exercise Science for Clinicians Graduate Certificate
- This certificate bridges the knowledge gap between the
medical field and the exercise field to promote the benefits of exercise for disease prevention and therapeutic intervention for their patients with chronic diseases.
- This certificate provides graduate professional experience
through course work and experiential learning opportunities. Students develop well-rounded knowledge of the role of physical activity and exercise on health and disease prevention/intervention.
- Coursework covers knowledge of exercise physiology and
exercise testing, assessment and prescription, all of which are major domains of job tasks for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist required by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Exercise Science MS/MPH
This dual degree program allows qualified students to achieve their goal of obtaining a more robust understanding of public health through an MPH degree while also completing their MS in Exercise Science. Graduates of the program will benefit from having a greater understanding of public health issues in the fields of exercise and physical activity in order to better design exercise prescription programs in the healthcare industry that aim to improve the health of individuals and communities.
MS/MPH Curriculum
The curriculum components meet the Council on Education in Public Health (CEPH) accreditation requirements and key competencies for a degree in exercise science recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Coursework consists of advanced physiology such as musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary systems and the assessment and prescription of exercise and physical activity in the context of the social determinants of health.
