  5. Grad Photos q Sittings: December 18 th – 22 nd , 2019 @ Artona Studio q On-line Appointment: www.artonagroup.com q Group photos require a separate appointment on a separate day q After Dec 22 nd , students run risk of not being in the yearbook and/or the grad composite

  7. Grad Ceremony q Thursday June 18 th , 2020 at 7:00 pm at the Orpheum q Tickets are approx. $8 each (available through School Cash Online account before event), or approx. $10 CASH at the door q Gown measurements will be taken in November by signing up online

  8. Grad Banquet • Friday, June 12 th , 2020 at the Vancouver Convention Centre • Tickets will be approximately $125 per person • On sale in spring for both students and parents • Dinner and Dance • Table seating lottery

Graduation Requirements In order to graduate, the BC Ministry of Education requires students to complete the following: • 52 credits “Required” courses, including CLC 12 • 28 credits “Elective” courses • Transition Plan completed in CLC 12 • Capstone Presentation • 30 hours work/volunteer experience • Presentations on May 7 th

  11. Provincial Assessments Current Grade 12 Students : q Are required to write Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment q Students who have not yet written, will write on November 6 th @9am Handsworth Library

  12. Diploma Verification Reports (DVRs) • Lists courses students have completed or are enrolled in, with final or interim marks • Purpose of DVR’s: • Verify information sent to ministry • Ensure graduation requirements are met • It is the student’s responsibility to make sure the information on his/her DVR is accurate • Gr. 12 students were asked to review and sign their official DVR at their CLC Conference last week and course programming last year ◦ Students/parents correct errors (DL marks, external credits, etc) ◦ New data transferred to the Ministry regularly • Unofficial transcript available at BC Ministry of Education website

Official Transcripts • Record of successfully completed Grade 10, 11, and 12 courses • New online system for ordering visit the link • http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/k- 12/support/transcripts-and-certificates • If applying to a US school- transcripts can be ordered through the main office • Official transcripts mailed home in August 2020

Student Transcript Service (STS) • Set up your new BCeID account and link it to student transcript services • order transcripts • grant permission for the Ministry of Education permission to release your course marks to the Post Secondary Institutions that you indicate • http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/k- 12/support/transcripts-and-certificates Available only in electronic format – PSI permissions between November and June 30

Youth Work In Trades (formerly SSA) q Paid on-the-job training under the sponsorship of a certified tradesman/journeyman q Students are registered with the Industry Training Authority q Can complete up to 16 credits q Each 120 hours earns 4 credits (these hours are put towards apprenticeship hours (total 900 hours) q Potential $1000 scholarship q Complete hours within 6 months of graduation q Maintain C+ average in grade 12

English Language Requirements q Some post-secondary institutions have an English language requirement - please check with Post Secondary Institute (PSI) q If you have been living in British Columbia for less than 4 years , and are not proficient in English, you may need to write an English proficiency exam called the TOEFL exam

Early admissions deadlines vary depending on the institution: UBC deadline is Dec 1 st 2019, for Major Entrance q UB Scholarships Jan 15th, 2020 , for first round offers q Qu Queen eens is Dec 1 st , 2019 SFU deadline is Jan 31 st , 2020 . q SF UVIC deadline is Feb 28th , 2020 q UV q Ca Capilano Un University deadline is March 31, 2020 . – Apply online www.educationplannerbc.ca Need PEN, Faculty (1 st , 2 nd choice) – – Pay fee (credit card) – Student account will be set up – pay attention to next steps, deadlines, etc. – Check emails regularly for info from schools

SFU football) q Minimum score 820 on SAT to qualify for NCAA eligibility (www.elegibilitycenter.org) q Recommended to write SAT prior to November of your grade 12 year q Handsworth School #821245

Reporting Grades Electronic transmission of grades: q 1 st & 2 nd Term Grades (May 2020) q Students complete Student Transcript Service to give consent to send transcripts to PSI—assignment in your CLC12 course Unit 3.2 q Final Marks –sent to universities in July only if you have authorized marks to be sent. q Universities may rescind their offer of admission if courses are not completed or if marks drop substantially.

  34. Self- Reporting Grades q Grade 11 marks (only some PSIs require) q 2 nd Term Grades for most BC PSIs (Spring 2020) q Out-of-Province PSI may require Term 1 Marks q You do not need an official transcript to self-report
