Communicating our preparedness • All teachers of senior subjects have attended professional development run by QCAA o 23 syllabus sessions o 27 teachers attended (some multiple sessions) • All teachers have completed online modules on Assessment literacy courses provided by QCAA • Senior leaders planning • Cluster planning & moderation meetings

  4. New syllabuses • Define course content, which will be organised into four units (units 1 & 2 developmentally less complex than units 3 & 4) • Inform teaching • Outline assessment requirements • Include instrument specific marking guides for each school-based assessment

  6. The New QCE About the qce The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is Queensland’s senior secondary schooling qualification. It provides evidence of senior schooling achievements. The flexibility of the QCE means that students can choose from a wide range of learning options to suit their interests and career goals.

  10. The New QCE Within the set pattern, there are three categories – Core, Preparatory and Complementary.

  16. The New QCE COMPLETED CORE REQUIREMENT Students must complete a Core course of study from beginning to end to contribute to the 12 credits. In a General or Applied subject, Core credits can only contribute if a student completes all 4 units and achieves a grade of C or better in the Unit 3 & 4 pair. VET qualification credits contribute to Core when a student completes a Certificate II, III or IV.

  31. Subjects General subjects: • Syllabus • Assessment – 4 pieces / year • External exam at end of year 12 • Endorsement & Confirmation • Year 12 assessment added to give subject score out of 100

Prerequisites • General Maths – students need to attain at least a C achievement in the Year 10 Core Maths course • Maths Method – at least a B achievement in Year 10 Extension Maths • Specialist Maths – at least a B achievement in the Year 10 Extension Maths, preferably an A for success • If students have not gained a C in Year 10 Core Maths, they should choose to study Essential Maths in Year 11
