What this means
▪ We will use any centre assessed result, combined with other relevant information, to determine the most appropriate calculated result. ▪ We will determine if there is sufficient evidence available to moderate this result. We will be asking you to submit results for each assessment component ▪ We will be asking you to provide rank order of your learners ▪ We will be looking at a range of information, this will include year 1 results and may include learner’s results from previous years, and this could include on their academic qualifications. ▪ Right of appeal: Learners who do not feel their result reflects their ability will be able to complete an assessment at the next available opportunity ▪ Appeals may be around moderation process and not the assessors predicted grade.

What this means for AIM’s Level 3 GAFVX
- Calculated grade will be needed for each assessment brief
- You will be asked to regenerate and upload the eRAC as per usual
(do not do this until you are told to do so)
- Moderation of the evidence will be arranged throughout June –
remotely and centrally at AIM
- Awards board to compare to qualification and centre data in July and
results submitted to UCAS
SLIDE 5
What this means for AIM’s Level 4 GAFVX, Level 3 E-Sports and Level 2 AIMVOC Games Design
- Awaiting OFQUAL’s confirmation of certification proposal
- Will be one of calculate, adapt, delay or none
- Further guidance for which will be released as soon as we can
- Same process for moderation as level 3

What this means – potential evidence to support judgements:
SLIDE 9
Immediate next steps
▪ Centres to start collating their predicted grades and establishing the evidence available to support this ▪ Record your standardisation of this process (notes, minutes, track changes etc) ▪ List learners in rank order ▪ Await the next step of arranging moderation, this will be via the central EV team and not directly with your usual EV. Anticipating requesting eRAC at the end of May and completing EV in June, UCAS upload in July. ▪ Data capture from centres about progress for those who haven’t already done so: ▪ https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TBV38HD

Support for centres
▪ Weekly clinic ▪ FAQ’s on website ▪ https://www.aim-group.org.uk/services/aim-qualifications/centres/covid-19-faqs/ ▪ Single point of contact – all queries to go through enquiries@aim-group.org.uk and will be passed onto the most appropriate person to respond. ▪ Next Gen – Critique week

NEXTGEN CRITIQUE WEEK INFO FOR COLLEGES We are aware that the physical shut down of colleges at this time means that students are missing out on industry feedback and input on their synoptic projects. That’s why we are organising video calls with industry, students and tutors to give students an opportunity to talk directly to industry about their projects, practise their presentation skills in a friendly environment. At a time of uncertainty, feedback from industry professionals can help reassure students that their next steps to Higher Education or Apprenticeships are achievable and worth working for. We are asking industry to provide people with the following skills:
- Animation
- Rigging
- Modelling
- Texturing
- Lighting
- Layout
- Game Development
- Level Design
- Production Management / Coordination
- Storyboard
- Concept Art
- Environment Art
- 2D VFX (Paint, Prep, DMP, Comp)
- Programming
- Technical Direction
- Creative Lead
- Simulations (Real Time VFX)
- Simulations (Non-Real Time VFX)

NEXTGEN CRITIQUE WEEK Here’s How It Works We will take our students’ work and match it to a group of industry professionals with relevant skills. We are aware students will have projects in varying states of completion, so they can submit a pitch presentation, a game design document, an animated short, a video of gameplay, a VFX piece, whatever they would like to present. We will be arranging one-hour sessions each weekday from 4-5pm from the 10th to 24th May. A representative from NextGen will be on every call, along with industry professionals and the relevant college tutor. Each one-hour call will be split up into 10-15 minutes slots with the synoptic project groups. Student work must be submitted as a link, we cannot accept files. Register Here Please let us know what work your students would like to submit using this link using this link. (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/critique2020) If you have any questions, please contact Sam on Sam.Webster@nextgenskillsacademy.com

Thank you!
▪ A big thank you from all at AIM for being so patient and responsive during this unprecedented time. ▪ We appreciate all the work you are putting into supporting your learners and also supporting the qualification to ensure that we can certificate the learners with the grade that best reflects their journey and achievement through the qualification. ▪ Please continue to be transparent and operate in good faith, if in doubt ask. We will not be disproportionate with our responses and the focus will always be on putting things right.
