What is Galactic Mappers?

Galactic Mappers is a practical task that has students working in teams of four to construct a continent. Each continent is different and contains different landforms and landscapes, depending on the cards that the team has been rewarded.

Why use Galactic Mappers in the classroom?

• It fits in nicely with the 7 - 10 Geography syllabus.

What do you need to do in your classroom to run Galactic Mappers?

• Have a sense of FUN!
• To remind yourself never to panic … even when students are running around mad and

you think the classroom is going to blow up with the noise

• Run the session with plenty of space
• Have plenty of craft materials so students can be as creative as possible
• Have students to help - we had Year 9 Mentors who were our helpers during the

session

• Have a good time with us today in order to run a successful Galactic Mappers session

in your school!
