- “80% of consumers will decide where to shop based on how safe
shop is “ Global Pharmacy chain
- “Ensuring staff feel save is essential "Global Grocery chain Director

Why focus on high touch areas?
- 80% of all pathogens (viruses, bacteria or microorganisms
that can cause disease) are transferred by touch (hands to face).
- Shared public touchscreens are a petri dish for bacteria:
- Touchscreens at airports have 1,500x more Bacterial
colony Forming units than the average toilet seat
- Microorganisms like Coronaviruses can live 1-4 days on a
touchscreen surface
- Solutions need to be implemented to protect
individuals from pathogens on high touch technology surfaces.

- Safe, No-touch, automated cleaning 24/7
- Seamless integration and function makes improving
disinfection easy
- Motion sensing for safe deployment of UV-C light and it
knows when it has been touched
- Support current cleaning protocols without staff
interaction
- UV-Clean technology integrated into products produces a
UV-C nonvisible light that inactivates bacteria and viruses at the cellular level, preventing them for multiplying and causing any infection
- UV-C disinfection technology has been in use for 50+
years
- Now available & affordable for high touch technologies
including touchscreens, tablets and pin pads

UVC Light damages bacteria and viruses on contact with them. A short dose will stop them reproducing and time required for full eradication depends on distance from the UV bulb and the type of bacteria or virus The killing of microorganisms with UVC is logarithmic. If it takes a certain dosage to kill a bacteria/virus to 99.9% irradiation in 3 minutes here is how it would work:
- 90% 1 minute
- 99% 2 minutes
- 99.9% 3 minutes
- 99.99% 4 minutes
The first kill happens very fast. The effect on the microorganisms is cumulative. Even a small dose will start the cycle of killing. They can’t repair themselves. Three 20 second exposers have the same effect as one 60 second exposure.

- Companies spend Billions annually on high touch
technology (tablets, touchscreens, phones and payment devices).
- Manufacture guides instruct users to “Prevent moisture
entering into any device opening”….but moisture can enter devices via the: Home Button, Speakers, Volume Control, Power Button, Keypads, Audio Jack & Cracks in the Touch Screen…..openings are everywhere on devices!
- Equipment degradation via excessive cleaning and
incorrect cleaning practices is inevitable and will lead to shorter technology lifespans, higher maintenance costs and frustrated customers/store employees.
- cThe CDC reports that productivity losses linked to
absenteeism cost employers $225.8 billion annually in the United States, or $1,685 per employee. Promoting safe and healthy work practices boosts profitability and productivity among employers of all sizes.

to both the merchant and consumer, PCI SSC does not endorse the use of overlays that interact with the entering of a payment card or PIN data. The use of these products also impacts the PCI device approval.”

Manual Cleaning Programs
- Touch screens, PEDs and other devices will still need to be cleaned. To maintain
disinfection at 99% this will need to be at least every 15 minutes if not in between every user. This could be up to 50 times per day. This will impact
- Staff Costs
- Cleaning Product Costs
- Device down time during cleaning
Damage to Devices
- Failure rates are rising from around 3% to as high as 30% as increased and
ill- advised cleaning of touch screens and PEDs takes place. This impacts:
- Out of Scope repair costs
- Technician costs in store
- Shipping costs
- Device down time during changeouts
