NJASK BACKGROUND

Standardized test given to New Jersey students in grades 3- 8 in Language Arts and Math and also in Science in grades 4 and 8. NJASK is based on a scoring range of 100 – 300.

  • 100 – 199 is considered partially proficient (not passing)
  • 200-249 is considered proficient
  • 250-300 is considered advanced proficient
  • Goals of the assessment:

– To measure and promote student achievement of challenging state curriculum standards – To give a glimpse of student performance at a given time using a valid and reliable tool – To meet state and federal accountability requirements
