NJASK BACKGROUND
Standardized test given to New Jersey students in grades 3- 8 in Language Arts and Math and also in Science in grades 4 and 8. NJASK is based on a scoring range of 100 – 300.
- 100 – 199 is considered partially proficient (not passing)
- 200-249 is considered proficient
- 250-300 is considered advanced proficient
- Goals of the assessment:
– To measure and promote student achievement of challenging state curriculum standards – To give a glimpse of student performance at a given time using a valid and reliable tool – To meet state and federal accountability requirements

- The HSPA (High School Proficiency Assessment) is given
in March to all 11th grade students attending a public high school in the state of NJ
- HSPA is scored on a range from 100 – 300
- 100 – 199 is considered partially proficient (not
passing)

- March, 2014 was the last large scale administration of
the HSPA. NJ has transitioned to the PARCC assessment.
