SLIDE 12 A conservation plan is a tool that helps farmers protect and enhance the natural resources that support productive and profitable farming
Conservation plans are flexible, working blueprints. They can be adapted or revised to meet evolving land management goals or address the changing needs of a farm.

Program Overview
SLIDE 24
O‘ahu RC&D assisted farmers located in Waiahole and Kaalaea to develop conservation plans and implement practices that improve water quality by reducing total nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment.
SLIDE 25
SLIDE 26 Waiahole Project Accomplishments:
- 7 total conservation plans approved
- 47 individual farmers were reached
- 64 tons of sediment/year reduced
- 64 lbs of Phosphorus/year reduced
- 149 lbs of Nitrogen/year reduced
SLIDE 27
Farmers receive cost-share assistance (up to 70%) to install conservation practices that address watershed health. Farmers will receive assistance to develop a conservation plan for their property. Projects must be completed by May 2018.
