Age 60 or older (Must be 60 or older on the date of application) Must be a resident of Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell or Washington Counties Provide proof of identity and residency (Photo ID, NC Medicaid Card, Certified Birth Certificate) Have income equal to or less than 130% of the federal poverty level
Income is self-declared, gross income is counted See income guidelines on next slide
Spouses – each spouse fills out their own application and each one gets box (if both are over 60)
Current Model
CSFP Distributions are conducted by CSFP staff, various food pantry staff, county government employees and volunteers Large numbers of CSFP clients are served at various sites in 14 counties CSFP staff attends all CSFP distributions except distributions at Albemarle Food Pantry
Future Model
CSFP distribution will be conducted by food pantries (CSFP staff will not attend all distributions) Pantries will decide CSFP distribution days and times
Smaller number of clients can be served at various pantries participating in the program Recommeded distribution days will be the 1st two weeks of the month
All boxes must be distributed by the 25th of each month
CSFP clients will be linked to a particular pantry in their county of residence
All pantry staff and volunteers dealing with CSFP must receive Civil Rights Training Must follow all federal and state CSFP guidelines Must sign an Memorandum of Understanding with the Food Bank Must have storage for CSFP boxes and cold storage for CSFP cheese Must participate in CSFP training
Pantries will be monitored by CSFP at various times
Can only distribute CSFP to certified clients once a month
List of certified clients will be provided to a pantry monthly by the Food Bank
Other paperwork associated with CSFP distributions will be provided by the Food Bank monthly to pantries CSFP Receipt of Foods Issuance Register Nutritional Education Materials Appointment notices
At least 3 clerical volunteers and 2 warehouse volunteers for each CSFP distribution
Number of volunteers will be based on the number of CSFP clients being served on a particular date
