Context and Strategy

The Strategic Programming Framework 2015-2018

Describes mission, mandates and guidelines which are divided into five priority topic areas :

  • Sustainable agriculture and forests
  • Sustainable urban territories
  • Energy transition
  • Integrated management and resilience of coastal and marine areas
  • Innovative financing of Biodiversity

And two overarching objectives:

Project / Program 2: PPI Small Initiatives Program: Programme de Petites Initiatives (PPI)  4th phase

Support Civil Society on environmental issues (biodiversity mainly, climate change) in Central and Western Africa, by enhancing operational capacity building of NGOs. Supervisory and program management by IUCN.

  • € 5.15 Million of which € 2.5 Million from FFEM (2014-2016)
  • Max. grant of € 50.000 over 2 years, projects selected through
  • pen call for tenders, NGOs from Central and Western Africa +

Madagascar.

  • Since 2006: more than 164 projects
  • End of 2013: Possibility to finance projects which fight poaching

and illegal trade of endangered species of wild fauna and flora
