FEFU HIST FEFU HISTOR ORY Far Eastern Federal University is the largest institution of higher education in the Russian Far East. Its histor ory dates back to 1899 - the year the Oriental al Institut tute e was established. In 2011, four leading universities in the region were merged. The universities that were combined are well known across Russia and globally. FEFU FEFU HIST HISTOR ORY The new campus of Far Eastern Federal University, situated in picturesque Ajax Bay on Russky Island (near Vladivostok), is a unique project that has no comparison in Russia. The keys to the new campus were officially handed over to the FEFU President during the APEC EC Summit, held on the FEFU campus in Septem embe ber 2012. 3

The main purpose of the APEC University Network is to promote maximum mobility for students and academics. It will: -be open for participation of all universities that meet the unified set criteria; -have transparent rules, clearly understood by the whole academic community; -be a decentralized institution with a representative international governing body, and programs, centers and offices distributed among different locations.
