“Increased handicap facilities, such as closer parking. I can get around in an event such as trade or gem shows or a sport event if I don’t have to use all my energy just getting to the area it is held in.” —Female, 35- 54 “Traffic during events like the fair is a problem, this periodic situation needs attention.” —Male, 35-54 “Safety of visitors, exhibitors, animals; continuous maintenance and upkeep; forward thinking and accountable management.” —Female, 55-64 “Bathrooms! This is my favorite complex because of real bathrooms. No

“It is critical to maintain the connection to agriculture while creating a space that has multiple uses.” —Male 25-34 “The fair has always been a place to see youth learn and have responsibility with their animals. I want to make sure that they keep the chance to have that opportunity.” —Male, 18-24 “Accessible, all ages attractions, urban and rural events, multi-cultural events.” —Female, 55-64 “I want to see more celebration of the wide diversity of Washington County … its people, business, industry and culture.” —Female 35-54 “A place you can enjoy in the winter with al the rain we get. More places with a roof.” —Female, 35-54

“Concerts. We need a good outdoor concert venue on this side of Portland. Maybe with shuttles to and from the MAX area. Accessibility and ease of commute to the venue would take high priority for me.” —Male, 25-34 “Keeping all activities accessible to low-income patrons.” —Female, 55-64 “Great space to use for county-wide shows, entertainment, and community
parking, and keep MAX supported.”—Male, 65+ “Make it reasonable for groups/events to rent space.” —Female, 65+ “I absolutely do not support having evening concerts at the Fair Complex. They are way to noisy to late in the evening and disturb the surrounding neighborhoods.—Female , 65+

COMMUNITY SURVEYS:
Emphasize infrastructure improvements Develop short and long-terms plans for existing
buildings; regularly communicate progress to interested parties
When considering new facilities, ensure a multi-
purpose capability for traditional and non-traditional events
Other issues to consider:
affordability of use/rents sustainability stewardship of the grounds and open space transportation/congestion during events relationship with adjacent neighborhoods

Transition National Guard Armory to maintenance
facility
Land swap completed Armory building available for County use within
next few months
Should other options for Armory reuse be
considered within the context of all the types of facility desired?
What is the best use of the Armory building and its
associated parking areas?
Where is the right location for the maintenance
facility?
100,000 sf covered pavilion
Clear span Assess size based on anticipated activities and
Multi-purpose building to replace certain auxiliary
buildings
How large? Which facilities will this replace?
Additional parking
How much? As required by city per building size and
use, or more?
Where? On main site, east of 34th, south of Veteran’s
Drive?
Additional park space, landscape and site amenities
Adding land or improving what is already there? Create ‘positive’ open spaces between built
facilities rather than ‘left over’ spaces
Evaluate viability of 24,000 sf Exhibit Hall
Demolished in 2018 Is a new building needed to replace the Exhibit
Hall or is that the Event Center?
Is there a need for a smaller building to
supplement Event Center or accommodate different types of uses?
Redevelopment options for 20-acre site south of
Veteran’s Drive
Maintain or improve existing sports facilities? What other facilities might be appropriate for this
land?
Wetland remediation will be required for any
redevelopment
What other types of facilities have been identified
since 2008 Master Plan that should be considered now, and in what Phase?
