Hard to Hear Statements

How you react to the above statements determines your success or failure. “The Library is a roadblock” “The Library is a gatekeeper” “It takes too long” “They don’t know my space”

Conclusions

  • It’s important to realize that we (libraries) are sometimes

roadblocks to the information. It’s equally important to react to that in a positive way

  • All steps in the process require partnerships to be

successful

  • “Telling” clients what you do is not enough, you need to

“show” them

  • Ultimately, the Library will “let go” of the product
  • If done well, the Library is no longer viewed as the

roadblock, but as the trusted expert
