It started with a promise.
SLIDE 3 In fact, it was a two part promise.
- 1. Continue writing.
- 2. Share my writing and
get feedback.

Simple Instructions…
SLIDE 5
Simple Instructions…
And then we’ll share.
SLIDE 6
I chose that this group was as good as it was going to get…
SLIDE 7
I didn’t raise my hand.
SLIDE 8
I didn’t raise my hand. I wasn’t going to raise my hand.
SLIDE 9
Sure, I lied.
SLIDE 10
I didn’t want to read. But I knew I needed to read.
SLIDE 11
When will I stop sweating?
SLIDE 12
…when you stop reading.
SLIDE 13
…start sweating again…
SLIDE 14
Closed my eyes, shook my head, sighed, and put it away.
SLIDE 15
It bothered me that I continued to react as I did.
SLIDE 16
…fear can block …
SLIDE 17
…fear can make me fuzzy…
SLIDE 18
…fear prevents me …
SLIDE 19
…but fear made me emerge…
SLIDE 20
…as a sweaty, foul-mouthed female describing in slow detail how she’d disrobe in public to get even momentary relief from the suffocating heat.
SLIDE 21
Who was this person
that fear encouraged in just a mere twenty minutes?
SLIDE 22
I wrote this in a state of fear.
SLIDE 23
…as if someone else created this product…
SLIDE 24
And that made me uncomfortable.
SLIDE 25
…to not only identify it, but to start to evaluate it.
SLIDE 26
…also made me wonder.
SLIDE 27
Which is why I wonder what your experience is like with fear in creativity?
SLIDE 28 Working in pairs…
- Review questions on side 1 and select 1
to review and share as a pair. (~8 min)
- Please complete the +/Δ on side 2. (~2
min)
- We will not regroup due for the pace
required for the evening
- I’m planning on collecting these to store
as my on-paper-support-system as I continue to explore fear in creativity.
