upward mobility; customized training based on employer and employee needs.

through job specific skills training to increase productivity; customized training.
- Occupational Advisory Committees comprised of
employers meet regularly to conduct regular review of content, make presentations to students, employ students, and recruit students.
- Interview skills, resume writing and life skills seminars are
a part of the training program and prepares students for life after their training.

immersed in a workplace simulation for their chosen career field; over 1,000 hours of training in less than a year.

demonstrate mastery of both technical and employability skills.
- SUPPORTED UP TO ONE YEAR AFTER training is
completed for job search and employment.

Guided Pathway Model – Example Maritime Training
HIGH SCHOOL COURSE/CREDIT Introduction to Nautical Skills Introduction to Nautical Skills is a high school course taught via distance technology or on-site in home school district
Able Seaman & Basic Training continues for students via distance delivery and at AVTEC
Basic Training sponsored by Perkins Postsecondary grant for students and teacher professional development
Employed, internship apprenticeship with tug and barge, tour boat, or other maritime employer
