Why change Boundaries (again!)?

  • The 2015 Bond funded the building of elementary school 16 at

Clearwater Creek.

  • In 2016, the district received $51M from the state to reduce

class size.

  • Those funds will be used to expand elementary school 16, build a dual

language school and expand the size of Amistad Elementary.

Boundary Board Priorities

  • The Board prioritized Neighborhood Schools

as the highest boundary priority followed by attempts to balance some of the ethnicity, poverty, and program issues after that.

slide-8
SLIDE 8

Boundary Development

  • Boundaries are developed using the following

process:

  • The school district is divided into a number of small

neighborhood grids.

  • The population within each grid is identified in terms
  • f grade level, ethnicity, poverty, and program.
  • The neighborhoods are combined to create school

boundaries.

The numbers above represent an export of addresses from our student record-keeping system at a point in time. The kindergarten number is an estimate based on the average expected students for that grade level. Because families are constantly moving in and out of and within the district, the numbers constantly vary but the variance is not significant.
