Importance of VRS/VRI Deaf sig igners have repeatedly exp xpressed that they y feel l they are better understood when able le to exp xpress themselves in in their ir own sig ign la language rather than in in writ itten form. Issues European deaf cit itiz izens are equip ipped wit ith IC ICT devic ices that support access to text xt- or vid ideo-based TRS, , yet are not alw lways able le to make use of the service of their ir choic ice. Most European countrie ies only ly offer a text xt-based service and provide in insufficie ient support to satis isfy deaf people's 's preferences. . The in inadequacy of state support for these cit itiz izens restricts access to the kin inds of TRS choices deaf people regard as necessary ry.
