Florida's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Using PS-RtI In order to be responsive to all students' needs and effectively match resources to meet those needs, Florida's state department, districts, and schools implement a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) that relies on the systematic planning and problem solving process for accelerating learning through behavioral and academic supports. Student-centered response to instruction/intervention (RtI) data are used to make systemic and instructional decisions. The goal of problem solving and using student response to instruction/intervention data within the MTSS is to maximize learning outcomes for all students. Examine the Problem-Solving/RtI Worksheets found on the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): Response to Instruction/Intervention website.
How do you use Instructional strategies? Describe the tool, strategy, or technique and connect it to tools, strategies or techniques that have been previously introduced to students. Tell the purpose of the tool, strategy, or technique and connect it to tools, strategies,
Model each step of the tool, strategy, or technique. Explain the steps in how to use the tool, strategy, or technique. Responsively scaffold the instruction for students who need it by teaching a few steps at a time or prompting the student to determine the next step. Provide adequate time for initial learning and practice. Precisely monitor and provide feedback or correction. Promote student self-monitoring. Judiciously review the tool, strategy, or technique. Encourage the use of the strategy if it is to also be used by the student for independent learning.
