The History

Our Rutherford Estate vineyard surrounds our winery with 35 acres planted to: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The climate and soils in Rutherford are ideal for these varietals including our Rutherford Estate Vineyard Merlot, one of our exceptional single vineyard designate wines. Our Rutherford Estate Vineyard is on the “Rutherford Bench” of mineral-rich alluvial soils of sandy clay loam from the Mayacamas Mountains. Deep, well-drained soil allows the grapevine’s root system to mine for nutrients and water which yields complex and concentrated flavors in the fruit. Napa Valley Rutherford Estate Vineyard

Dollarhide is a 1,530+ acre property with steep, rolling hills, some flat lands, seven lakes and a vast array of wildlife located in the northeastern hills of Napa Valley. We have planted 500+ acres of grapevines at Dollarhide, leaving the rest of the property to thrive in its natural state. The oldest vines at Dollarhide Ranch, now more than 30 years old, produce the full-bodied, distinctive wines on which

  • St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery’s reputation was built.
  • 1,530+ Acres, +500 Planted
  • Seven different soil series, 13 different soil variations
  • Elevation Ranges from 600-1,100 feet
  • Napa Valley’s warm days and cool nights are slightly exaggerated at Dollarhide
  • Over 1,200 heirloom fruit trees provide fruit for our winery tasting experiences, local restaurants

and are sold at Bay Area Farmers’ Markets

  • Characterized by its fruit-forward, well-balanced and structured wines
  • With no vineyards nearby, Dollarhide is a valley within a valley and is not impacted by neighboring

100% Estate Winery

  • St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery is a

100% Estate Grown, Sustainably Farmed Winery

Estate Grown means:

  • 100% of the wine comes from grapes grown on land owned by the winery.
  • The winery must be located in the same viticultural area as the vineyard.
  • The winery sorts, crushes, ferments, finishes, ages and bottles the wine in a

continuous process on the winery’s premises.

Outside of St. Supéry, only a handful of other wineries within Napa Valley can call themselves 100% Estate including Joseph Phelps, Silverado Vineyards, Grgich, Trefethen, Diamond Creek, Dominus, Harlan, Bond, Promontory, Continuum and a few other small properties.

Winery within a Winery We are dedicated to crafting small lots of single vineyard Estate wines Our state of the art winery combines traditional methods with modern technology through:

  • Berry-level sorting both by hand and by optical sorter which closely monitors each grape to

determine if it is at the highest level of quality based on color and shape

  • Small lot open-top fermenters
  • Barrel fermentation
  • Hand-sorted grapes are placed within new French oak barrels and spun six times per day to

extract color and tannin from the skins. Following a slow natural fermentation, the free-run wine returns to barrel for approximately 19 months which provides incredible oak integration, density and texture.

  • 100% French oak barrels including variations of our own custom toast created by our winemaker,

Michael Scholz, in collaboration with our cooper

  • Dedicated to small lot management with over 120 lots of Cabernet Sauvignon alone

The Winemaking As an Estate Winery, we have the highest level of control over both the grape growing and winemaking processes allowing us to manage our wine from berry to bottle.

Our three pillars of sustainability:

  • ENVIRONMENTAL: To restore, enhance and protect the land for the future
  • SOCIAL: Ensure health and well-being for our community, our neighbors and our employees
  • ECONOMIC: Long-term viability of land and business

Our Commitments Include:

  • We compost our pomace—the seeds, skins and stems left over from the winemaking process—and

use it to return organic matter to the soil in our vineyards

  • Aerial imagery and pressure chambers closely monitor plant moisture throughout the growing

season and determine when we irrigate the severely stressed vines which is called deficit irrigation

  • Water at our Rutherford Estate property is 100% recycled
  • 100% of water at our Dollarhide Estate Ranch is reclaimed from rainfall
  • Approximately 1,000 acres at our Dollarhide Estate Ranch have been left in their natural state
  • Biodiversity is very important to help maintain a balanced ecosystem
  • The Ranch land contains seven lakes and is home to a vast array of wildlife, including ducks,

geese, cranes, egrets, jackrabbits, owls, bees, foxes, bald eagles, osprey, otters and bass

  • With the installation of solar panels at the St. Supéry winery, 80% of our electric bill is covered
  • We recycle all winemaking, bottling and guest experience materials, and all paper products used at

the winery are made from at least 50% post-consumer waste Environmental Stewardship
