How GPA is Calculated
(Fall 2015 organizational average GPA + Spring 2016 organizational average GPA) 2
Example: Organization A achieves the following semester GPAs leading up to the Fall 2016 football season.
- 1. Fall 2015 Organizational Average GPA = 3.11
- 2. Spring 2016 Organizational Average GPA = 3.42
Final Organizational GPA Awarded = (3.11+3.42)/2 = 3.265
FAQ
Q: Is cumulative GPA or semesterly GPA considered in this calculation? Grades from previous semesters are not considered, so each organization begins the year with a blank slate. The organizational average GPA earned in the fall 2015 semester and in the spring 2016 semester are the only factors.
FAQ
Q: Will more weight be given to upper level coursework?
- No. Due to the subjective nature of assigning
course difficulty, no extra weight will be given to any particular course. Q: What if a student gaps a class? Regardless of circumstance, ungapped GPAs will be used.
Calculation of Rows
The number of rows an organization is eligible to receive will depend on the size of the organization according to the roster they submit to OSP. Each organization’s base row capacity will be determined by the following formula: (Membership * 1.5) / (24 seats per row)
FAQ
Q: Can a single organization participate as multiple entities?
- No. An organization may only register once,
and must register as a chartered university
- rganization with permanent status.
FAQ
Q: Is there an adjustment factor for differences in
- rganization size?
- No. Unlike in the old Ignited Points system, an
- rganization’s ability to compete with any other
- rganization is unaffected by size. The size of an
- rganization has no bearing on that
- rganization’s ability to produce an excellent
GPA.
Enforcement of the Program
SGA reserves the right to remove any organization from the Organizational Seating Area due to any reported inappropriate behavior or if attendance is not maintained.
- Rows must be completely filled 1 hour prior to kick-off.
- Attendance must be maintained throughout the game.
Failure to abide by the Organizational Seating Program Rules and Regulations for the OSP Reserved Seating Section may result in removal from the block and forfeiture of all assigned rows.
Important Dates
- To compete this year, a hand-signed contract must
be turned into the SGA Advisor’s Office and an Excel Roster must be submitted on AU Involve by 4:45pm on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015. These will be available on the SGA website.
- Final rankings will be released by July 2016.
- 2016 Season Row Allocation will occur the first
week of classes in August 2016.
Fraternity New Member Block
IFC Fraternity new members will now have a reserved seating section under the scoreboard in Sections 17 and 18. Their rows will be labeled each week and will be reserved until 1 hour before kickoff. At that time, those seats become first-come, first- serve.
FAQ
Q: Why are fraternity new members given a reserved section?
- Improved Traffic Flow & Safety
- Saving Seats is NOT allowed
- Prime seating now available to more
