Explosion Protection Explosion occurs when 3 following elements are in place: 1. IGNITION SOURCE 2. FUEL 3. CONFINEMENT Dust explosions occur when fine particles dispersed in the air as a cloud react with oxygen in the presence of an ignition source, generating an exothermic chain reactions.
