GA in Porto (Portugal, 7th – 8th October)
- Statement on MRAs
The European Junior Doctors Permanent Working Group (EJD) reaffirms support for the principles of medical mobility and the free movement of doctors between countries to work and live. We believe that, if implemented correctly, Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) could help to facilitate this.
- Statement on JDs wellbeing, stress and burnout
EJD strongly suggests that such problems cannot be dealt individually by each junior doctor but should be addressed systemically by providing a healthy work environment, support from colleagues, access to supervision, recognition of the difficult nature of our profession and help with developing coping strategies.
What is new
GA in Rotterdam (The Netherlands, 12th – 13th May)
- Statement concerning protection and rights of
JDs during pregnancy and parenthood
Pregnant doctors can be required to work in challenging situations, often working long hours and on-call through the night. Doctors can also face pregnancy-related discrimination concerning both salary and professional development. Some doctors find it difficult to raise these issues with their employer – either because they have temporary contracts, or because they are afraid of negative professional consequences.
- Statement of support for Turkish Doctors
RIGHT TO COMPLETE POSTGRADUATE TRAINING FOR RESIDENT DOCTORS IN TURKEY During the state of emergency following the coup attempt in Turkey in July 2016, more than 50.000 state employees and 2.000 medical doctors, including 37 medical residents were sacked from state employment by different decrees. The European Junior Doctors Permanent Working Group strongly supports the Turkish junior doctors in their struggle for the constitutional right to complete their postgraduate training, without political or judicial obstacles.

What is new
- Statement of support for Italian JDs
STATEMENT ON ITALIAN PGT The European Junior Doctors Permanent Working Group expresses its concern at the current situation regarding Italian Postgraduate Medical Education. The long-standing shortage of postgraduate medical training contracts in Italian Medical Universities has created a situation whereby numerous junior doctors cannot find a job, or continue their specialty training.
