During the III Summit of the Americas, as a result of the “Connecting the Americas” initiative held in Quebec– Canada in April 2001, the OAS was mandated to support human potential using new technologies of information and comunication - ICT (AG / RES. 5154/11). The Educational Portal of the Americas was launched during the II Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Education, in Punta del Este Uruguay, on September 24-25, 2001. During the 2011 General Asembly, the Educational Portal was aknowledged as an strategic program for advancing human development and competitiveness through professional development and institutional capacity building.

Since 2001, the Educational Portal has given more than 30.000 scholarships to citizens from 34 countries.

EducaSTEM Program

EducaSTEAM seeks to increase access opportunities and the improvement of STEAM education in the Americas, providing information and knowledge transfer on public policy formulation and the implementation of programs in educational innovation in STEAM areas and the exchange of practices between individuals, institutions and governments of OAS Member states.
