Findings from the Student Summit with Implications for Educational Pathways & Academies for All
▶ Students need to feel more connected to school and it needs to start their freshman year. ▶ Students want to choose electives that are related to field of study. ▶ Students want more vocational training opportunities and information on options after high school that don’t involve a four-year college. ▶ Students want to give back to their communities and have their parents and the community more involved in their education.

▶ The average Illinois
graduate leaves college with $29,305 in student loan debt. Of Illinois graduates, 66 percent have debt.

Academy Placement to be Determined
▶ A U-46 team: ▶ Began with the 16 career clusters and looked at them in light of our current programs and facilities. ▶ Examined data from the NIU P-20 Council, Illinois Department of Employment Services, Workforce regions, the Hanover Research firm, and the ECC Workforce Summit to determine the cluster areas with the highest levels of growth moving beyond 2020. ▶ Ongoing work. Decisions to be made by late Fall 2018.
