Anatomy

  • f a Fall

 It takes most people about 1/3

  • f a second to become aware.

 It takes another 1/3 of a second

for the body to react.

 A body can fall up to 7 feet in

2/3 of a second.

 10 ft Fall creates 18,000 lbs of

force.

We don’t need Fall Protection

It will only take a second to complete

the task.

I left my gear in the truck. I’ve done “this” a thousand times. We are not up “that” high.

Fall Protection Plans

 All work sites should develop a written fall protection plan which

includes:

 Identification of the fall hazards in each area  Detailing the fall protection system(s), and/or equipment to be used in each

area

 Implementing the procedures to assemble, maintain, inspect, use and

disassemble the fall protection system(s)

 Organizing procedures for rescue of a worker who has fallen and is

suspended by personal fall arrest system or safety net, but is unable to effect self rescue.
