ACCELERATE COLLEGE – PILOT YEAR

 Community College-Accelerate Program (HB5561)

“Authorizes a community college district board of trustees to enter into an Accelerate College educational partnership agreement with any school district wholly contained within the community college district's jurisdiction. Provides that an agreement must offer a group of high school students the right to take community college courses without paying tuition for those

  • courses. Provides for the size of the program”

 Community Partners

In collaboration with Community Unit School District 300 (D300), Elgin Community College developed a full-time dual credit program that allows for students to complete general education courses that align to a transfer degree

Extension of current Middle College (part-time) program

HB5561 was a result of the collaborative work between D300 & ECC. Local IL legislators crafted the bill in a fashion that resembled the program, but also modeled the vision for new dual credit initiatives
