Recapping EV Industry Statistics – Where are we NOW?

Malaysia’s EV industry & infrastructure is still at a nascent stage. In order to grow, several key things must happen:

▪ EV price drop / parity with ICE vehicles ▪ Increase in number of public charging stations ▪ Government intervention in the form of EV-friendly policies

and incentives .

Developments that would boost EV uptake:

▪ EV technological improvements:

  • More convenient & faster EV charging (e.g., wireless charging,

superfast chargers)

  • Better batteries (safer, higher energy density)

▪ Consolidation of EV charging standards ▪ Shift in customer vehicle preferences

(cost savings, green conscious) Key Statistics (as of Aug 2019)*

GREEN EV CHARGING: How do we implement it?

Energy from solar panels are fed to the grid from various source (Large scale solar, RE sources) For every 1MWh of energy that enters to the grid, 1 Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) is produced and recorded in Malaysia Green Attribute Tracking System (MGATS) Through purchasing energy from TNBX’s myEVC pay-per-use mechanism, you can pay a premium rate to energy and REC certs. REC certs will be able to be retired. Indirectly, the energy that flows to your car is generated from green source
