In spring 2018, British Cycling appointed Beat Media Group brand Sportsbeat as the digital agency for the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup in London. Our wide-ranging brief included social media management, video production, media syndication, marketing and PR as well as graphic design. We worked closely with the British Cycling comms and marketing teams, as well as key stakeholders, to design and deliver a suite of compelling social media assets that helped drive reach and engagement while also giving their owned channels a distinctive look and feel.

In the build up to the Track Cycling World Cup, we were tasked with creating a new look for graphic content going on social feeds. As a starting point the brand guidelines included a colour palette (see left) and the custom typeface. The typeface in particular is an essential element
applied on top of the font ‘Druk Condensed Super’. It is used throughout and works best when utilised in conjunctjon with the striking brand colour options. All photography used has a series of Photoshop filters applied. This gives the imagery an illustrative appearance which compliments the

As part of the promotional campaign for the London event in December, a carousel ad was run
the need to grab the viewers’ attention with eyecatching design, driving audiences to engage with the content and complete the call to action associated with each post. Using brand identity and methodologies, the message ‘Back To The Track’ was spread across each section of the ad. Imagery of high profile riders who would be competing were used
representative of an individual brand colour - before mixing all three together in the final frame. Reception for this project was very positive and a good pointer to how the new style would be received over the course of the campaign.

The 2018 Track Cycling World Cup event in London was held at Lee Valley VeloPark (the same venue as the 2012 Olympics). In the build up to this we recieved an infographic brief to promote the venue itself. Titled ‘Lee Valley in Numbers’, the concept involved displaying facts split in to six sections (see right) which each had a relevant fact & graphic. Each section was constructed individually using the same process as previous projects. Finally these separate elements were combined on a textured tri-colour background layer (on brand).

During the London event, session graphics were created for social so event timings were easily accessible. These were also linked back to the official website. Visually similiar to the entire suite, and divided in to sessions per-day, these graphics were a useful source of information on social media platforms.

Subsequently a series of ‘countdown’ posts were pushed out on social in anticipation of Great Britain reaching 50. The design and feel of this original campaign was adapted to suit medal winner graphics and promotional posts.

The social media match graphics suite for the 2018/19 season was created over a four month
the sponsor Gallagher’s colour scheme and an emphasis was placed on match information. Balancing a wealth of information with strong imagery was challenging. However, the end result was a success - the wide range of different graphic content in the suite has been consistently well received on social media.
