  2. DARIAH • D igital R esearch I nfrastructure for the A rts and H umanities • One of the few ESFRI research infrastructures for the humanities • A DARIAH-EU ERIC is well on its way • DARIAH’s mission is to develop, maintain and operate an infrastructure in support of ICT-based research practices • Infrastructure is administration, software and storage services but also Curricula and Methodology • Working with communities of practice: humanities scholars supporting their VREs (Virtual Research Environment), such as TextGrid • DARIAH-DE and TextGrid (which is migrating to DARIAH-AAI) have together about 1800 users in Homeless IdPs. • DARIAH is cooperating with „enabling users“ activitiy and is in a „Code of Conduct“ uptake activity.

  5. AAI Requirements ● The AAI service must be easy to use, ideally using their own institutional credentials (if available) on a Europe-wide and international Level ● Single sign-on to all (DARIAH) resources, tools and services ● In an ideal world, researchers could use the same credential in any 'academic' context. ● Authorisation granularity, e.g. access to 'sensitive data' ● Authorization of non-web-based services

  6. Are the Requirements Met? NO - European-wide federation eduGain has too little outreach - Not every institution signs federation contracts - Not every Identity Provider releases personal attributes - Technologies for non-web-based access only “almost there” (ECP, Moonshot, oAuth2)

  7. Are the Requirements Met? YES - DARIAH has a productive solution based on homeless-IdP and attribute authority - Distributed user and priviledge administration - Roadmap for a sustainable service unit - Policies that allow for integration into DFN-AAI and thus into eduGain

  8. DARIAH AAI Setup

  9. DARIAH Homeless IdP and Attribute Authority
