Science Opera>on in past ~1 yr

  • Cycle 4 opera>on: Oct. 1, 2016 – Sep. 30, 2017
  • Several New Capabili>es
  • Large program
  • Spectral line polarimetry
  • Solar observa>ons
  • VLBI observa>ons
  • ACA standalone
  • 109 Grade A+B projects, 49 Grade C projects in EA
  • New challenge: improving delivery efficiency was the biggest

concern as the delivery backlog was becoming significant

  • Cycle 5 opera>on: Oct. 1, 2017

Cycle 4 Performance

  • Antenna numbers were in line with expecta>ons
  • Available hours fell ~8% short due to weather down>me
  • Project comple>on fell short of expecta>ons due to

June-September queue mismatch caused by the change in the configura>on schedule

  • Poor queue match to the sky led to some devia>ons in

execu>ve balance that need to be recovered in Cycle 5

Data Delivery Progress

  • Situa>on is gejng much improved
  • Both pipeline calibra>on and imaging are in opera>on at EA-

ARC.

  • Pipeline flagging and low SNR heuris>cs are mostly successful
  • Data reducer do not quite olen need to do manual interven>on.
  • Automa>c queueing of pipeline calibra>on and imaging will be
  • pera>onal soon.

What’s New in Cycle 5 Opera>on?

  • P2G: PIs not genera>ng SBs in Cycle 5, just revising SGs

and submijng their projects again for confirma>on. Observatory genera>ng automa>cally SBs, then reviewed by ARC staff.

  • Helpdesk: PI can trigger ToO observa>ons via helpdesk

and directly contact the staff in Chile.

  • Archive: All the archive contents have unique file names

e.g., scriptForPI.py -> member.uid___A002_Xabc_X0123.scriptForPI.py

Ques>on to all of you

  • According to the user survey, user sa>sfac>on rate for

informa>on about proposal prepara>on (Proposing Guidance page in SP) was significantly low in EA.

  • We kindly ask you to provide us your sugges>on in

discussion session.
