  3. CROSS CULTURAL CENTER Week of May 14, 1990 (28 years ago) – four students participated in a hunger strike that led to the establishment of the Cross Cultural Center. Our Values:  Community Building  Identity Development  Leadership Development  Advocacy  Cultural Competency  Academic Excellence, Research, and Education

OUR MISSION Born out of student activism and political struggle, the UC Davis Cross Cultural Center provides a culturally relevant community space where student voices can be expressed and respected. The CCC cultivates critical consciousness and cultural competency by providing learning opportunities at the crossroads of the many aspects of identities and experiences. By embracing our cultural and intellectual heritage, the CCC supports student leadership in advancing our collective vision for community empowerment and social justice.

  7. CULTURAL & EDUCATIONAL Danzantes del Alma (founded in 1977) – student folklorico dance troupe celebrating traditional and contemporary Mexican, Chicanx and Latinx cultures. P.E.A.C.E. (Peer Education and Community Empowerment) – student peer education dedicated to undoing racism, sexism, homophobia and promoting a welcoming, respectful, living and learning environment.

IMPACT/CHANGES DUE TO BUDGET CUTS • Budget Cut by $76,794 • Eliminated: REACH Retreat, International Retreat, Asian Pacific Islander Leadership Retreat, Student Organizations of Diverse Affiliations, Grants • Enhanced: Community Specific Programming; Themed Speaker Series; Campus Climate Programming; added a Campus Climate & Community Outreach Coordinator for Whiteness • Highlighted Main Speakers: Shaun King, Bitter Brown Femmes: Queer Xicano Chisme & Xicanisma, and Kim & Tiq Milan

  10. INCREASED IMPACT  175% jump from 2016-17 (1,193 students) to 2017-18 (3,273) as of 4/13/18  1,174 students participated in 45 programs in 2017-18 as of 4/13/18
